Do you want to help develop Sweden's capability in civil defense?

We are continuing to strengthen the establishment of the Civil Area Office and are recruiting more employees.

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in civil defense who can contribute to the development and establishment of operations at the Civil Area Office with a holistic view and a solution-focused approach. Do you recognize yourself in this? Then we are curious to learn more about you.

What does the position entail?

The Civil Area Office's mission includes coordination, collaboration, planning, processing, and preparations for heightened readiness within the civil area.

You will be part of working groups that collaborate with external actors at both the national, higher regional, and regional levels. In this position, you will collaborate with, among others, the County Administrative Boards within the Eastern Civil Area, sector authorities, and other preparedness authorities as well as the other five Civil Area Offices.

Main tasks include;

  • participating in working meetings and networks to develop civil defense
  • preparing and compiling planning materials for civil defense within the civil area
  • participating in preparatory work and exercises.

You will also be part of the Civil Area Office's staff organization during heightened readiness or war.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this position, we want you to have:

  • an academic degree or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
  • current experience from work within total defense or crisis preparedness
  • experience of collaboration and cooperation with various actors in society
  • good knowledge of the most common parts of the Office package.

As a person, we see that you are independent and can take the initiative for activities and work in a structured manner by planning and executing your work effectively within given or self-imposed time frames. You are good at working with others by relating to them in a responsive, unpretentious, and consultative manner. Furthermore, you have an analytical ability that is evident in your way of handling problems and conditions from different perspectives and coming up with proposals for solutions. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

We place great importance on personal suitability and see it as a given that you contribute to a good working climate.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you also need to:

  • have the ability to make decisions from a holistic perspective considering multiple viewpoints
  • understand that a central role for the County Administrative Board is to make trade-offs between different interests
  • have the ability to prioritize and adapt to work with new tasks or in new contexts.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • several years of experience in project management or leading processes
  • experience in analysis or investigative work
  • experience in working with situational reports
  • experience working in a government agency, region, municipality, or state-owned company with related assignments
  • experience in handling classified security information
  • experience from one or more sector authorities
  • a B driver's license

More about us and the position

The employment is permanent, full-time, and usually involves a probationary period. We would like you to start as soon as possible or by agreement.

Number of positions: 2

The Civil Area Office is under construction and consists of a head of office and about ten administrators. We work in centrally located premises in Stockholm. Travel both within the civil area and in the country occurs in the position.

Security clearance

You must be a Swedish citizen because the tasks within the employment are placed in a security class. We will conduct a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). As a permanent employee at the County Administrative Board of Stockholm County, you will be assigned based on the needs of total defense.
